ways to celebrate

Had so much fun last night. It was my post birthday bash and pre halloween party as well. It's a small party held at Renz place (who's very very nice to lend his flat for me to have a party). After two days of food preparation, it certainly paid off. Cooking and food prep courtesy of Renz, Erlyn and Blesie.

was very surprised to see that Renz did actually made an effort to put this on the wall

guess what's in the fridge... ^_^

honestly, I don't have any idea why we're all crammed in the kitchen area

sitting with the girls, the other girls were on the table with the boys

been laughing my ass off when I saw this pic - Blesie eating a strawberry with fake blood traces in sides of her mouth. expression is priceless!

Levan and Niko gave me New York cheesecake and Raspberry cheesecake while Lisi bought the white wine (which I insist on paying it) and brought some booz...

astrology time

Section 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear to Others
You appear gentle and soft, and you act rather reserved with others until you know them well and feel it is safe to be open with them. You have a strong need for emotional security and a sense of belonging, and are deeply attached to the past: your heritage, roots, family, cherished friends, familiar places, etc. Making radical changes or moves away from what is known and safe can be very painful and difficult to you. You tend to cling and hold on to people, memories, possessions of personal or sentimental significance. Having a home, a safe haven, is very important to you.

Section 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Quiet, deep, emotionally complex and intensely private, you are not a person who is easy to get to know and understand. You are extremely sensitive but disinclined to show it, and you allow only a special few into your inner world. Like a wary animal, you are cautious and mistrustful of those you do not know until you "sniff them out". You are very, very instinctive and intuitive. You usually have a strong, immediate gut reaction to people, even though you may be unable to clearly articulate why you feel as you do. Your feelings and perceptions go deeper than words.

Found this astrology link and posted it here as some points are true while the others are not.

Very normal day and just noticed how time simply passes by so quickly.

freaky weekend

What happened in my two days off? Well...

Friday:
- went to office for few hours to do some freaking recon that keeps on multiplying on my table
- went to Al Ghurair Mall to watch "No Other Woman"
- passed by at Carrefour to buy some stuff to fill my lonely box that am planning to send next month

Saturday:
- received a call from my sister telling me a very very bad news that our cat Luckee died this morning (and I even bought some goodies for him last month to surprise him!)
- went to Al Badia concert park for the "Sports Day"
- had to eat my lunch in the middle of the park under the blazing heat of the sun (thoughI did enjoyed my baked potato and vegetable spring rolls)
- had fun watching the DFC HOD lose the football match with the score of 1-2 against Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi
- made a complete fool of myself while trying to hold the big umbrella coz the wind was so strong and I even thought in one moment that I will be flying off in the ground along with it (and freakin' Ivan just stood in front of me laughing like maniac and taking pictures of me while am freaking out so badly coz I cannot hold the umbrella anymore)
- forgot that I DID bring my camera and just went on watching. The time I remembered it, all the good moments are gone
- passed to Hyperpanda to buy another batch of stuffs to be put in my box
- heard that we're going to have a new flatmate (and it's freakin' Indonesian again - no probs with them but my point is we were supposed to live in the flat with same nationalities. I'll definitely going to complain for this, need to send an email to the Housing or HR team for us to be transferred to a new flat)
- had dinner in Renz place and so full with so ohh-so-good dinner

.....

I'm too lazy to get my cam and upload some pics... Just sharing one pic that I saw from Ivan's fb. I'll just update this blog tomorrow as it's already 11:40pm and I still need to wake up 6:20am tomorrow for the 7am bus.

IHG DFC turns pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This is a bit late but I still like to post this. This will be a very short post.

To show the support for Breast Cancer Awareness month both the Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental  Hotel have had the external environmental friendly LED lights turned to pink. This action supports our drive for Responsible Business and has already been recognized in 7 Days Newspaper (see below). Both Hotels will remain pink until the evening of Saturday the 8th (though they still have the pink lights on).

picture really looks crappy since I only copied this on the email sent to us

Aside from the hotel being pink, breast cancer awareness sessions were also held. It was really informative, as the speaker is a gyno from Prime Medical who really explains well all the details. Not the usual boring seminars were you end sleeping in the couch.

After the seminar, we went to the clinic so the nurses can check our blood sugar level. and blood pressure. Am happy to know that mine was still normal, and blood pressure still on the right track.

With a pink ribbon pinned in my jacket, I can say that I am now aware. Remember, awareness is the first step of cure.

surprises

Went yesterday to International City to surprise Anna by cooking (it's Jackie who cooked, not me) some food since it's her birthday today. It's like an advance celebration. So I bought a cheesecake at Marks&Spencer, since I dunno where to buy a decent cake here. Then we went to Spineys to buy some stuff for our spaghetti, bread and ice cream. We even bought a candle for the cake!

So after three hours of waiting and calling Anna (found out that she went shopping with some youngsters), I told Jacky that I'm gonna eat coz am starving to death. Other people also came, looking for Anna since we invited them for her party. It's so freaky to prepare, eat and invite people when the celebrant was not there. Geez...

Anyway, when Anna called me, she told me that she will be home late (inspite of us begging her to come home early) and already had dinner at the mall. Yeah right, so much for surprises.

In the end, we all went home without seeing her. And didn't even had a bite in the cheesecake!

What a bummer!

......

Around four days ago, my leave application was returned back to me by Prishy as Vincent didn't sign it due to some miscalculation in the leave balances. I was like, 'wtf?!?!'... Then suddenly, I got an idea. So what I did, I spoke with Nabil and asked him if I could extend my vacation, instead of two weeks, it will be three weeks (05-23Feb12). After two long hours of argument, my leave application came back, signed and approved. Bwahaha... Hope to get a flight on the night of 02Feb coz 3-4Feb is my off days so if ever I will get a flight on the night of 2, there will be no problem at all.

Am so excited, after more than two years, Philippines here I come on February 2012!!! ^_^

scent - sation

Floral family
You're sensitive, warm and cheerful.

You like tenderness in life: flower bouquets and weekends for two.
Your elegance comes naturally and your close relations appreciate your femininity and artistic talent.
You're sincere and generous, and cultivate the pursuit of happiness and radiate joie de vivre.
Your perfume expresses the femininity that makes you so unique. Your wear it elegantly and naturally.

Floral perfumes are the ones for you, whether fruity, woody or musky or even green. Their auras follow you and embellish your beauty and personality.

......

Saw this website last night about perfumes. It's all about perfumes, anything you want to know it's all there. They even had quizzes and I answered one and had the result as stated above. Result suits me fine, as I like floral perfumes but I prefer the fresh scents as much as possible. Not very fond of warm scents.

Honestly, whenever I passed by to a perfume boutique or perfume section of department stores and I smelled some of the perfumes that I've used, can't help not to feel nostalgic about it and remisnice a little bit.

Everyone in my sophomore class in highschool uses this. If you're not using it, you're definitely out.

how can I forget this perfume that I've used during my whole senior year in highschool?

First read about this perfume in an article in Candy magazine during my college days; had to squeeze in my budget just to get one.

the "accidental" perfume that I bought in 2006, I wasn't suppose to buy it but I got convinced by the salesperson and ended up buying it (he gave me a free limited edition small collectibles of Morgan de Toi perfumes and a cute white handbag)

the perfume that I did everything just to have it, even the expense of asking one of my colleague who's going on a business travel to Doha to buy one for me coz it's less expensive there to buy.

I bought as a birthday gift to myself that comes in a gift pack with matching body lotion and shower gel that costs 1/3 of my salary back then that became my all time favorite, still using till now

I consider this as one of the Lacoste 'classic' perfume; had one but stopped using it when I noticed that almost most of my lady colleagues are using the same perfume.

bought this coz it reminds me of Jessica Alba in her movie "into the blue".. hehe..

The edt that I bought coz I'm going on a trip to Doha, later given to my sister as my last present to her before her departure to Vancouver.

the reason I almost lose the last airport bus at Doha airport in 2007. Can I also add that I'm the last person to checked in because I'm too busy at duty free searching and choosing the right perfume for me?

bought this at Seoul duty free as my birthday gift to myself in 2008

Meow's christmas gift to me last 2010.

the edt that I cannot use continously coz I feel dizzy having it in my body.

Here's some "perfume" quotes to ponder:

“A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future.”
― Coco Chanel

“A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting. ”
― Christian Dior

"Happiness is like perfume: You can't give it away without getting a little on yourself."

last weekend

I always wish for weekends, I actually kinda hate weekdays coz I need to work. But hey, that's life. No work, no money. No money, you're dead...

Hmmm... What I did last weekend? Well, Friday we had a mini party held at Silvester's house. Just videoke and lotsa lotsa food. There are some party crashers but didn't stayed that long (guess they kinda felt that they were gate crashing someone else party).

Oh so love the pork... Barbeque pork... You don't know how hard it is to have barbeque here in Dubai coz it's kinda illegal to grill pork in the flats. We just sneek this inside the flat, all of us wishing the fire alarm will suddenly got disabled and won't alert every living things in the whole building coz of the smoke.

Saturday... Went to La Mesa for a buffet dinner and I haven't been that full for a long time.

I started with maki... Good but am looking forward for pork dishes so I only took 3 pieces...

Romeo just put everything in his plate...

My fave... Sisig, lechon kawali and oh so crispy pata!

Another favorite... Kare Kare (it's so good, though it doesn't look good in the picture)

Dessert... dessert! I like the brownie fudge... It's so moist! Got another serving (think another 6 pieces)

Love it! I dunno what do they call this cake, but the crunchy tops was my fave.

sweet melons... but I like the orange ones coz the green ones are not that sweet...

I didn't post the other pictures coz pic quality is no good. I forgot to adjust the cam so all pic are kinda blurred (sometimes I hate myself when I do things like this).

.....

Saw this at Metro and got amazed by this globe:

it's a globe with coins of each country...

Of course, I search for Philippines and took a photo of my beloved coins:
found 5 pesos, 1 peso and 10 centavos :)

this is cute!

Though I got home late, am so happy to have a full stomach... What a nice weekend!
